What does the dental implant procedure involve?

Before a dental implant can be placed, specialised scans are taken of the gums, bone and teeth to determine the ideal implant to be placed. This also allows us to use computers to generate a very precise guide that helps us place the implant in the exact best position using a keyhole type implant surgery which results in very little post-operative discomfort and healing time.

After the appropriate records are taken and the procedure has been planned appropriately, the implant is placed in the bone after getting the area completely numb. If possible, moulds are taken that day to make a tooth to sit over the implant and complete the entire procedure within a week.

If for any reason it is not possible to make the tooth immediately, the bone is allowed to heal around the implant and the tooth on top of the implant is made after a certain period of time as passed. During this time, a temporary tooth can be used so you do not have to be without your smile for any period of time.
